The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) proudly participated in the 2024 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH), held from November 13-17 in New Orleans, Louisiana. This prestigious gathering brought together global health experts and researchers to address critical issues in tropical medicine.

Our Contributions:

  1. Poster Presentation
    Title: Prevalence of and Challenges in Diagnosing Asymptomatic Plasmodium falciparum Infection: Implications for Malaria Elimination in Ghana
    Summary: This research delved into the persistent challenges of asymptomatic malaria infections, emphasizing the implications for malaria elimination strategies in Ghana. The study underscored the need for innovative diagnostic solutions to bridge existing gaps.

  2. Oral Presentation
    Title: Helminths, Malaria Co-Infection, and Associated Inducement of Anaemia, Iron, and Folate Deficiencies in Children
    Summary: Highlighting the intertwined effects of parasitic infections and nutritional deficiencies in children, this study explored actionable insights to address these overlapping public health challenges.
