Welcome to RAPiD - VBP
On March 10th, 2024, Dr. Rose-Mary Owusuaa Mensah Gyening, a key member of the RAPID-VBP research team, gave a talk about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain at the Great Hall of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The event, organized by HIVE, focused on the theme of “The New Internet: Exploring Opportunities for Financial Empowerment Through Web3 Technology.”
Dr. Gyening explained how AI and blockchain can work together in various fields, making things more efficient and transparent. She gave examples of how these technologies can help in healthcare, the financial sector, education, and other fields. A highlight of her presentation was about the important work RAPID-VBP is doing to prepare for pandemics. Using AI and other public health surveillance techniques, RAPID-VBP is finding ways to prepare for future health emergencies with automated vector surveillance systems and early warning signals of potential threats to improve public health response to outbreaks.
Dr Gyening reiterated the need for multi-disciplinary collaborations to ensure scalable, effective, and sustainable research solutions. HIVE presented her a citation of honor, for her commitment to advancing AI and mentorship to students in the STEM field.
